Landscape and Still Life Painting

Taught by Olin West and Loren Schmidt, this class (for oil or acrylic paint) will teach students to understand color and value, form, and composition. Pre-requisite: drawing ability. Sierra County Texas Longhorn World Class Show
9am-3pm, Sierra County Fairgrounds, South Broadway, T or C
Presented by the Texas Longhorn Breeders Association of New Mexico (TLBNM). Breeders from New Mexico, Texas, Colorado, Oklahoma, and Arizona will be showing all classes of cattle, which include heifers, cow-calf, steers, and bulls, in halter and open division. Judging will be held for youth and adults divisions. There will be several vendors from the local area, with items such as jewelry, pottery, mosaics, paintings, A silent auction will benefit the youth scholarship program and will be held during the show Saturday, ending Sunday.

The Colorful History of Chloride

The discovery of high-grade chloride of silver by Harry Pye in 1879 would soon turn this sleepy Black Range Mountain canyon into a booming tent town with thousands of residents.
Surviving prospectors, hostile Indian attacks, bitter-cold winters and hot windy summers. This thriving tent mining community became a potpourri of colorful characters.
Don Edmunds and his wife, Dona, came to this community and started restoring one building at time.
